Ayodeji, direct and challenging!

I think part of the laziness is unconscious habits that eat our days a few minutes at a time. Mine is godforsaken social media scrolling — absolutely mindless, useless, listless checking on what’s not happening out there in the world.

Mindfulness, intentionality, conscientious discipline, all these go hand-in-hand with a determination to succeed in a field that requires a huge time and mind commitment.

Writing, if you’re doing it well, is work that never really stops. And if you don’t keep those mental muscles in good working order, they do get flabby. Taking breaks should be intentional and high quality.

Frittering away time expecting it doesn’t matter is something, I think, millions of people may one day look back on and regret. For artists with something to add to the world, it’s also a damned shame.
