I Hate Being Pregnant, and I’m Not Sorry to Admit It

Some women say they love every minute of pregnancy, but I’ve been counting down to birth from the beginning.

I hate being pregnant. There. I said it.

Don’t get me wrong; I appreciate all the well wishes and congratulations. Pregnancy and motherhood are rightly celebrated as life-altering events.

And I adore babies. But I detest the long incubation period leading up to birth.

As of this writing, I have thirteen days to go until my due date. And if you know me at all, yeah, you probably already knew that.

I am the Cape Canaveral rocket launch countdown guy of pregnant ladies — I’ve been counting down the months, weeks, and days until I give birth since last summer when I first found out I was expecting another baby. We’re at T-minus 312 hours, y’all.

Pregnancy is uncomfortable and inconvenient.

From the beginning, the surge in hormones knocks me out of my usual self. My thickening abdomen makes me feel unattractive. I don’t have that “glow” so often noted by supportive friends and family members.
