Your 40s are Actually a Great Age to Have a Baby
Weighing the pluses and minuses of motherhood in young adulthood versus middle age.
Motherhood isn’t the easiest thing in the world, and there’s really no optimum or most convenient time to do it. Think you’re too old to start a family in your late thirties or early forties? Let me make a case for giving it some more thought.
There are certainly upsides to having children in your twenties, but there are some real sacrifices that come with younger parenthood. I know because I lived it — and I’m also now living the middle-age pregnancy experience. There are also some definite upsides to having children in mid-life.
But either way, motherhood means rearranging a lot of your life, and investing a lot of time and energy into a baby. I want to share some insights I’ve come to over the years by way of comparing the pluses and minuses of motherhood in both young adulthood and middle age.
